Hair wellness brand Vegamour today announces its newest investor and first celebrity partnership in Nicole Kidman. Taking on new investment from someone with her unique, cross-cultural, A-list platform is part of Vegamour’s global expansion plans, which will see the brand launch nationally into 400 Sephora doors in May, followed by launches into UK, Europe, China and Australia in later 2022. While the organization is not disclosing the amount of this new funding, it will be Kidman’s latest investment in the health and wellness space. She is also an investor in mental health startup Lyra Health.

Vegamour comes to this partnership with plans to move into more brick-and-mortar retail and pursue international e-commerce after growing its revenue 3300% from 2018, mostly through DTC sales. All products within the brand’s haircare line are formulated from organically grown, wild-harvested ingredients with clinical data proving efficacy for hair and scalp health. The brand’s product line is entirely plant-based, and sourced with biodiversity in mind, through fair-trade partnerships with woman-owned SMEs in communities throughout southern Africa and other parts of the world.

On partnering with Vegamour, Kidman says, “Once I learned about where they source ingredients and how they are supporting those communities through ethical harvesting, I knew that I wanted to support that mission.” She continues about the partnership that, “It wasn’t about being the face of the brand or selling products, but being an advocate for a holistically-minded lifestyle that prioritizes self-care.”

As someone who regularly submitted her own hair to decades of straightening, coloring, processing and various other harsh treatments for each new role, she began seeking alternatives to traditional, often toxic hair care products. Her own experience of using Vegamor’s line of vegan, cruelty-free products to heal her hair and make it thicker, fuller and less frizzy led her to this new partnership.

Vegamour CEO Dan Hodgdon says of the new partnership that, “Once I met Nicole, it just made sense. We’re aligned across the board, from the importance of a natural, holistic approach to optimal hair wellness, to our focus on sustainability, biodiversity, social impact, and product efficacy.” He continues that, “We see a huge amount of potential in international expansion, and with our rapid momentum within the US over the past few years, it’s clear now is the right time.”

Hodgdon shares of international plans, “In terms of aligning international expansion with our partnership with Nicole, we feel that it makes perfect sense. Nicole is partnering with us to amplify our presence and awareness in international markets — it goes without saying that she is one of the most well-known, highly respected A-list celebrities in the world today, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her involved with our strategic expansion.”

In addition to using this new funding for international expansion and global awareness, Vegamour is also expanding into hair maintenance and clean styling categories in late 2022 and 2023.
